- NOTE ** SECTION 07724 - ROOF HATCHES AND VENTS, Copyright
- 1997, The Architect's Catalog, Inc.
- NOTE ** HEAT AND SMOKE VENTS WITH PLASTIC DOMES:
- NOTE **
- NOTE ** CONDENSATION: Under certain conditions of high
- humidity and/or large inside to outside temperature
- differentials, condensation may occur on the
- aluminum framing and plastic glazing material.
- Double glazing will usually reduce the occurrence
- of condensation on the glazing, but will not
- totally eliminate it. Since plastic glazing cannot
- be hermetically sealed, condensation can form
- between the double layers of plastic but it will
- normally dissipate as the air space is heated by
- the sun. Sealed domes, where the flanges are
- sealed together ("bed" sealed), are more resistant
- to the formation of condensation and will reduce
- accumulation of dust and foreign matter. Sealed
- domes are available at additional cost.
- NOTE ** PLASTIC GLAZING: Acrylic plastic is the standard
- glazing type, in clear and 3 standard colors. A
- full range of custom translucent and transparent
- tints is also available. Polycarbonate sheet may
- be required for greater impact resistance or to
- meet some fire code requirements. Refer to your
- local building code for acceptable types and
- possible square foot area restrictions. Do not use
- abrasion resistant plastic materials for domes,
- since they should not be thermoformed.
